Dietetics

If you have any concerns regarding your diet then you make seek some guidance from our Dietitian at Assure Health. Dietitians are experts in all matters concerning diet and nutrition and can help bridge your understanding of the relationship between food and health.

Our Dietitian can offer advice on managing nutrition to patients diagnosed with chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and obesity. Our Dietitian can also assist you with any food allergies and weight gain as well as weight loss. Moreover, advice regarding improving food intake and amending poor appetite can ensure that high-risk individuals, such as the elderly, are eating properly.

Dietetics

During a consultation, they can recommend a food plan detailing what you can eat and drink to achieve your nutrition goals. Through medical nutrition therapy, dietitians can work with you to determine your nutritional requirements and facilitate management of symptoms associated with any chronic disease. This would involve a process of monitoring, planning and evaluating the patient’s eating habits and current food intake. Regular reviewing this management plan can help improve the patient’s quality of life overtime.

Weight Loss

If you are trying to lose weight, your GP at Assure Health can assist you with a plan. Your GP will first assess your general health, and then help identify the cause of your weight gain. A blood test may be required to determine if your weight is due to any health issues. Your BMI will be calculated using your height and weight to assess whether you are at a healthy weight. You can also check your own BMI with the calculator linked below. We will also measure your waist since it is possible to be at a healthy BMI but still have excess fat around the stomach, which can increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Losing weight has many health benefits including improving your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugars. It will also reduce your risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and stroke. The first step to losing weight is changing your diet and increasing physical activity. Your GP at Assure Health may ask you to keep a 1 week diary of these, to assess your current practices. This will allow us to discuss personalised and achievable goals, so you can lose weight in a healthy way.
