Should this be an actual emergency dial 000?

After-hours number – (03) 9411 1763

After-hours GP helpline (https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/after-hours-gp-helpline)

To speak to a GP now, call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 – free from landlines and some mobile phones.

When you call the after hours GP helpline, a registered nurse will assess you and based on your symptoms, the nurse may offer you a call back from a GP. The GP will contact you within 15 minutes or 1 hour depending on the urgency of your health issue. At the end of your call, you will be offered a care advice summary, sent to you by SMS or email, so you can easily recall the details of the advice you are given.

You can also agree to have a summary of your call sent to your regular GP’s practice overnight, so they are aware of the call when they open their surgery the following day. The after hours GP helpline can also upload a summary of your call to your My Health Record.

If you are calling from outside the major cities, the after hours GP helpline is available:

Monday to Friday, 6 pm – 7:30 am
Saturday, from midday
